Your local guide will assist you to make this event a truly learning experience about the rich folklore of northern Albania. The walking tour of Kruja will take you through the cob- ble stone pathway of Ottoman bazaar, with wooden shops and displays of various gifts and antique household items. Acropolis - The Acropolis hill, so called the “Sacred Rock” of Athens, is the most important site of the city. During Perikles’ Golden Age, ancient Greek civilization was repre- sented in an ideal way on the hill and some of the architectural master- pieces of the period were erected on its ground: the Parthenon, which is the most important and characteristic monument of the ancient Greek civilization and still remains its international symbol. It was dedicated to Athena Parthenos, the patron goddess of Athens the Erechtheion, dedicated to the worship of the two principal gods of Attica, Athena and Poseidon the Temple of Athena nike, and the Propylaea, the monu- mental gateway of the Acropolis. The tour begins inside the Syntagma where our guide will show you shortly (in 10 minutes) the archaeologi- cal exhibits that came to light during the construction of the metro. You will then continue on to the House of the Greek parliament, the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and watch the changing of the guards. Your tour continues towards the national Gardens and on to the beautiful neoclassical zappeion Hall, in front of which tower the surviving columns of the Temple of zeus and Hadrian’s Arch, both of which you will have to opportunity to visit.
